GARRAS Puts Trans Power on the Runway in West Hollywood

The TransLatin@ Coalition will bring its 12th annual GARRAS fashion show to the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood on Saturday, November 7. This year’s theme, Trans Power in the Flesh, puts the body at the center of a runway featuring seven designers, live performances, and a fundraiser for the trans-led organization.

GARRAS stands for Groundbreaking Activism Redirecting & Reforming All Systems. The event was built as a fashion platform for Two-Spirit, transgender, gender-expansive, and intersex people, with the clothes sharing the stage with the people wearing them.

The body is part of the material

The organizers describe the 2026 theme as a response to the political and social pressure placed on 2TGI bodies. On the runway, that idea becomes concrete through exposure, silhouette, skin, and self-presentation. The body is not treated as a neutral mannequin. It is part of the design language.

This year’s lineup includes Life on Mars by multidisciplinary artist Mars Wright, Jesse Alvarado, Gloria Sanchez, Josie Zocar, LEANDRAG, Cecilia Martínez, and BornXNaked. The program also includes performances by LA Bamby, Pepper MaShay, and Ve’ondre Mitchell.

Mitchell will receive the Trans Spirit of Resilience Award and perform during the event. Brenda Solórzano, president and CEO of The California Endowment, will receive the Spirit of Accomplice Award.

Funds from GARRAS support The TransLatin@ Coalition’s year-round services and advocacy. Its current programs include a drop-in center, housing support, health and HIV services, referrals, and case management. The organization also plans to award two $5,000 vocational scholarships to 2TGI recipients during the show.

Revry is filming the event for a one-hour special planned for early 2027. A release date has not been announced.
